I was in my garage yesterday and noticed (and remembered) the 11+ security camera units I was given a few years ago. These are x/y motor driven units from the older smoked-glass dome types we use to use. There are several boards, power supplies, and tons of components and motors on each unit and I just happened to be watching David on EEVBLOG about using my new oscilloscope. The next up video was Tuesday Teardown and about salvaging electronics. Weird coincidence there!! Anyway, good online information and good stock of parts to recover! This is going to be fun!!

I think I posted around here somewhere about the German motors I pulled out of one unit. They are expensive from what I researched, and 2 per unit, so this is a great SCORE! WOOHOO!

Awesome idea, but too complicated to reverse engineer the controllers, and almost big enough for a mini-gun lol. I'll have some pics pretty soon.
