Bad karma: we can't find that page!

What happened ?

  • the link you clicked to arrive here has a typo in it
  • or somehow we removed that page, or gave it another name
  • or, quite unlikely for sure, maybe you typed it yourself and there was a little mistake ?

Yes there a bunch of that most people would just never come back but the forum is good here that keeps it going

Just ask for what your looking for and I'll get it for you

But your right if you click the links on the main page at bottom most times it tells you content not found but i thought gram was fixing that

Maybe we need to post them like this one

CharlieM,

Thanks for the heads up. What links are you having problems with?

I just checked...if I click on the PICTURES at the bottom of the page, I get a "content not found" but if I cleck on the MORE link under the text, they work fore for me. Also, I spot-checked a dozen links from the menu bar at the top and didn't have any trouble.

Besides the pictures at the bottom, are you having any problems?

Thanks.

Jon

Ahh yes - I've spotted the issue..

The "Showcase" links at the bottom of the page are manually created by me - not by the system. That means that the URL that I manually code into the showcase item is static (ie - it doesn't change). The same goes with other links that have been manually written both here in the forum, and in articles.

What happens on the back-end is controlled by Search Engine Friendly (SEF) URL mod. These URLs are dynamic, and can change on an irregular basis (totally dependant on where and how the article is accessed whenever the sites cache is refreshed).

To address this issue, its going to take some time (approx a week). None the less, the result will be static SEF URLs that do not change, and of course much easier browsing/linking around the site - I will keep you posted)

This is the link to the SHT module
you can get it here http://digital-diy.com/site-tools/file- ... e-sht.html

If I'm right this is the swordfish user modules that are here on site that may have been ziped up in one file I don't think that happen and it was more or less

Tip if you can't find it use the Search box that pops up like the one here and it works very well at finding things on here http://digital-diy.com/404-error.html

Example code using the SHT module is here.

I've updated the links to the SHT and XBee modules in the above article so these should work now. At some point I'll try and do a bit of a write-up on the modules and post them in the User Modules section so they're easier to find.

The SEF URL code modifications are complete.

As I said before, no such thing as a free lunch... All 404 errors will be logged from now on, which will allow me to quickly update link errors from the back-end.

You do not need to change/update any links. All broken links will be valid within the week.

FYI - I am not going on a content dredge to find/validate every link.. They will remain the same as SEF URLs will be enabled on the back-end as 404s are found.
